“Our wounds are often the openings into the best and beautiful parts of us.”

-David Richo

My passion is guiding individuals back to their roots, opening the heart, and teaching them how to rediscover and embody their truest and wisest Self

individual psychotherapy

Healing takes place from the inside out. I’ll help you deepen your awareness towards your inner landscape. Beginning to uncover patterns through noticing moment to moment, the thoughts, emotions, perceptions, body sensations and old beliefs that may have been living right under the surface.

From this awakened lens YOU can learn to embrace vulnerabilities, challenge beliefs, begin to choose self reflection versus blame, find self-acceptance, courage to speak your truth, practice healthy boundary setting, find freedom, connection to the deep heart, and choose to step into intimacy with yourself and others, wholeheartedly.

Get help with:

  • Addiction

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Life Transitions

  • Relationships + Intimacy

  • Self Esteem + Self Mastery

  • Stress Management + Inner peace

  • Trauma + PTSD

Therapy offers a space much like a canvas for us to explore ourselves - be messy, dark, bright, creative and vulnerable - with someone who isn't going to judge, blame, criticize, ignore, isolate or abandon you. You’ll learn how to recognize and be fully present with the various parts of yourself.

couples therapy

My work with couples, blends a combination of the most cutting edge approaches, such as neurobiology, attachment theory, mindfulness, somatic, experiential and heart based modalities. Over the years, I have found that blending these theories and working through this experiential and somatic lens with couples adds a significant depth to the work.

Together we learn to rebuild trust and safety, as most folks have lost this basic foundation and find themselves feeling vulnerable and emotionally unavailable. You will learn the benefits of mindfulness, which will allow you to become personally responsible for your actions and words, through strengthening the observer part of yourself and learning to self-regulate. You will learn to communicate from the heart versus a defended version of this, which is generally a protected part of self or a defense that has been created by your ego/ mind. Together, we will navigate the places that keep you stuck, those negative interactive cycles that you and your partner keep revisiting. We will begin to address the underlying emotional wounds that may be present in these places and how they may be interfering with your current relationship. You will learn to track somatic cues within yourself and eventually be able to identify your partners. Which will allow for an improved attunement to their needs, and ultimately lead to deeper levels of intimacy and connection with each other.

Intimate relationships provide rich opportunities for individual growth and emotional maturation that ultimately impact the growth and healing of the couple, leading to a more vibrant and conscious connection.

My work with couples has been strongly influenced by the following approaches known as: Psychobiological Approach to Couple’s therapy (PACT), Emotional Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Hakomi, a body-centered and experiential psychotherapy.

energy healing

Red Hat Qi Gong is a 6,000 year old ancient form of Yin Chinese energy healing medicine, which was passed down through oral tradition from master to student. Denise's lineage of certification is received by Grand Master Beverly Anderson, whose lineage was certified by Grand Master Dr. Wong in Hong Kong.

This ancient healing methodology cleanses, balances and charges the mind, body and soul by removing any blockages and increasing the flow of energy or "Qi.” This deep energetic soul work allows one to realign with their “true essence,” “dharmic structure,” or “soulful Self.”

“QI” (pronounced chee or key), translates to air, breath of life, or vital energy that flows through all things in the universe.

“GONG” (pronounced gung) translates to the skill of working with, or cultivating, self-discipline and achievement.

When combined, Qi Gong is the skill of cultivating vital energy, or the ability to work with the electromagnetic energy of the body. It is a mind-body-soul practice that improves one’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being and overall health.

Prior to a session clients are asked to refrain from coffee and/or caffeine.  Comfortable clothing is suggested.

During a session, clients can expect to be seated.  They will be gently guided as the practitioner skillfully maneuvers the energy within the chakra and meridian systems as well as the marma points of the body.

After receiving a session, clients are left feeling a sense of lightness, clarity, balance, relaxation and an overall peacefulness much like meditation. It is said that one Qi Gong session is equivalent to an entire year of deep personal work.

yoga + meditation

yoga nidra + pranayama + meditation

Yoga Nidra is known as dynamic sleep, it is a state of consciousness that prompts the body to relax deeply while the mind remains inwardly alert. Although often described as a deep relaxation and/or guided visualization, it is much more than a set of techniques. Yoga Nidra attempts to gently guide you through the four main stages of brain wave activity known as– beta, alpha, theta, and delta.

The practice of Yoga Nidra allows you to achieve that transitional state between wakefulness and sleep, known as the “hypnagogic state.” During this time, the mind has a trace awareness of its inner and outer environments, while the body rests in deep relaxation and/or sleepless sleep that occurs between waking consciousness and dreaming consciousness.

Yoga means to yoke, to join, to bind, union, oneness

Nidra means sleep, deep sleep, dreamless sleep

Pranayama is the conscious awareness and control of breath. It is the life force that both energizes and relaxes the body. The term Pranayama is derived from the Sanskrit, meaning . . .

Prana means breath or vital energy in the body, “life force.”

Ayama means extension, draw out, restrain or control

Meditation is a mental exercise that involves focusing attention, mental awareness calmness and relaxation. It has been said that Meditation is to the mind what physical exercise is to the body. There are many different styles of meditation to choose from such as mindfulness, Transcendental, Vipassana, Sudarshan Kriya, Mantra, Kundulini yoga, Zen, and Loving Kindness, to name a few.

What is the difference between Yoga Nidra and meditation? When you practice Yoga Nidra you enter a state of sleep with awareness. It is practiced lying down to help your body enter this sleep state. Meditation is practiced sitting up which helps you remain more alert, more awake, more present.

workshops + retreats

These are offered sparingly throughout the year and tend to cycle with the seasons. Each workshop/retreat has a specific theme ranging from topics such as relationship to self and others; divine feminine, energetic sovereignty, self-mastery, stress management, new moon wisdom, living an embodied life, premarital wisdom/post-marriage bliss, and conscious connection for couples.

Individuals seeking to deepen and explore the various realms of self; and relationships may explore through their participation in personal inquiry, experiential work, ceremony, meditation, various forms of yoga including: pranayama, mantra, mudra and asana; movement, art, music, and/or group process work.

Groups hold a sacred space for tapping into the collective wisdom of those who have gathered before us to share, connect, teach, inspire and empower humankind. When we step into a group, we have an opportunity to step into our strength, offering our unique gift of being a reflective well of wisdom, that serves as a guiding light and loving resource for all who participate. Transformation happens when we embrace all parts of ourselves and each other. Participants need only to arrive with an open heart and mind.
